Homemade Bouncy Balls

Homemade Bouncy Balls – Have you ever want to make your own super bouncy ball? I decided to try to make our own rubber bouncing ball for my daughter yesterday using only a few ingredients I found. The end result was awesome…. the 5th time. I will skip the failure of the first 4 times. I will tell you though there is one ingredient that many people used in their homemade bouncy ball that I do not recommend which is cornstarch. My bouncy balls would barely bounce and they would go flat very quickly when they sat for too long, no matter how much cornstarch I used.

How to Make Homemade Rubber Bouncy Balls

What you will need to make your rubber bouncy ball

Supplies needed to make your own bouncy ball

2 Tablespoons of Borax
1 Cup Warm/Hot Water
2 bowls
2 oz Elmers Glue
food colouring

In the first bowl pour your elmers glue and a few drops of food colouring and mix till blended

In your second bowl add 1 cup of hot water, and 2 tablespoons of borax, stir till totally dissolved. This takes a few minutes to totally dissolve but it is important.

Once the water and borax has completely dissolved pour it into the glue mixture and stir till it clumps together (almost instantly) then you can take it out (careful its slippery) and begin rolling in into a ball shape. I made three balls out of this.

Keep a dry towel or paper towel beside you so you can wipe your hands to remove the water from them.

eventually the ball will become rubbery instead of slippery! Its best if you leave it for an extended period of time to let it completely dry

That’s it, give it a bounce!
